Eight out of ten days, the summit is covered in clouds and fog. Watch the weather, and try to visit when the skies are very clear in Asheville.

Great panoramic views from the observation deck. Be sure to visit on a clear day for the best chance of capturing a compelling image or two.

Mount Mitchell is the highest peak east of the Mississippi, amazing view, make sure to bring bug spray just in case of multi number of flies and make sure you have gas, few stations in the area.

For the full effect: go in the fall, early in the morning, head to the summit, and look over the fog and new day. Doesn't get much better. Though, I was born in these mountains, so I'm biased.

Great way to get away from society with nature. The views are spectacular! Love it!

They've got grills and firepits and even fireplaces in pavilions, but bring your charcoal, wood, food, ice, everything as there are no services up here.
