As a kid, we sometimes used to walk up here, it's the outer edge of the Wentworth Estate. Before the houses ruined the view, I remember my uncle and my Dad climbing part way up the column. Sadly, the local council seem to have let this lovely monument go to ruin.
Other monuments have been restored and had work done on them, eg. Needles Eye was done in the early 80's, Hoober Stand has also been done and is now open to the public on sunday afternoons in the summer months, and there's a fantastic view from the top.
Keppel's column, however, is another story, rumour has it that the stairway inside has now collapsed, so would need quite a few pounds spending on it.
